| ESCO is a government-supported energy-saving initiative. It refers to a system or company that saves energy for energy-intensive companies and buildings and takes charge of their energy operations, management, and maintenance. As Korea imports most of its energy sources from abroad, this energy-saving initiative will increase the efficiency of energy use and thus improve the competitiveness of businesses, and further out, enhance national competitiveness. |

1. Energy cost can be reduced without burdensome investments in energy-saving facilities.
2. There is no technological and economic risk resulting from investments in energy-saving facilities.
3. Since ESCO provides professional service concerning energy-saving facilities, customers’ time, manpower, and
cost will be reduced.
4. Tax breaks for customers of ESCO: Pursuant to the Restriction of Special Taxation Act a certain portion of the
amount invested in energy-saving facilities is deductible from income tax or corporate tax. |
