First KTX test operation between Sindong – Dongdae

On the 3rd of last month, the first KTX test operation between Sindong – Dongdaegu Station (19.4km) was performed at the site of ¡®new railroad construction of Kyoungbu line from Sindong – Kyoungsan (total distance of 31.8km)¡¯, which LG TEK has been engaged since 2000. As a part of Kyoungbu high-speed railroad construction project, ¡®Railroad construction of Kyoungbu line from Sindong – Kyoungsan¡¯, is partially linked with electric railway conversion project of existing line between Daegu and Busan. LG TEK is responsible for the section of about 31.8km from Sindong to Kyoungsan. This section connects newly added section of high-speed railroad with existing Kyoungbu Line. The test ride was performed with brilliant success, which gives more significance since the 19.4km section of Sindong (interconnection) – Dongdaegu Station has more relevance. Sindong – Dongdaegu section (19.4km) is the first subject of test operation among the total distance of 31.8km, which will be open for service in April 2004 after KTX test from Seoul to Busan on the 15th of November marks the end of whole tests for the section that LG TEK took charge of.
