Special Grade Standard Digital Home Service Introd

A demonstration of digital home service, co-developed by Digital Communication Team and IBS team, was performed with the attendance of related LG group companies on the 14th of last month in Yeouido Pavillion. The demonstration can be of huge significance in that it¡¯s the first step for development of the BCN (Broad-band Convergence Network) project and also it is expected that it will be a landmark for materializing service models of future services including broadcasting/communication, wired/wireless and home networking by incorporating each demonstration of the services. Especially, it is notable that this is the first case in Korea of incorporating broadcasting and communication through Ethernet-based on E-PON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) method, one of FTTH (Fiber To The Home) solutions, keeping pace with the Special Grade system from the Ministry of Information and Communication. Exclamations were heard among the attendance at the demonstration when other FTTH broadcasting related services were demoed including IP Video Service (VoD), which enables its subscriber to make a selection of channels and displays the desired video clips on TV through high-speed connection, satellite broadcasting service that utilizes satellite receiver to change into light signals and enables reception of satellite broadcasting, RF Video service such as CATV and ground wave broadcasting. The highlight of demonstration was high-speed internet connection of FTTH integrated with home network to manifest digital home system in home network.
