August 27, 2004 - LG Tek(www.gsneotek.co.kr) announced that it has been selected for the 2nd phase of Daejon City’s Intelligent Traffic System project, which has a budget of 7.5 billion won.

After conducting a thorough evaluation of proposals from LG Tek, Samsung SDS, Seoul Commtech and KT through the Public Procurement Service for each proposal’s cost and each company’s operation status, Daejon City chose LG Tek as the top choice for the 2nd phase of the project.

LG Tek, which formed a consortium with KSIC, scored 95.536 points in combined score for technology, company’s operating conditions and price. Samsung SDS and Seoul Commtech scored a close 94.314 points and 94.258 points respectively, but was unable to beat LG Tek and remained in 2nd and 3rd places. KT scored 90.120 points, narrowing the gap between it and the top contenders, but failed to score enough points in the technology segment to be successful in its bid.

The proposal evaluation points were comprised of technology (45%), company’s operating conditions (15%), and price (40%). LG Tek had not only participated in the first phase of the project, but also proposed to change the existing bus information system (BIS) terminals, earning them a high mark in the technology segment. In addition, LG Tek managed to win the project despite bidding 90% of the total project budget, showing signs that cut throat price competition is on the decline in the ITS industry.

LG Tek’s Director, Mok Hyun Kim, commented, “We will implement a state-of-the-art traffic information system that will not only work flawlessly with existing ITS, but also provide real information that people can use everyday.”
